mumbletiredmumble

Last night we had our first house meeting. They herded us down into the lounge, fed us oreos and pretzels, we listened to announcements, and they talked about dorm government. Then we heard a knock on the door. "Oh, one last announcement," they said. In came a ridiculously tall kid in a weird hat, who began to give a very strange speech about egg donation. It was about 30 seconds into it that I began to realize that he was drunk. Very drunk, actually. Then there was a pounding on the door, and in came all the residents of otero from last year and their beer. Apparently it's a tradition that the outgoing residents throw a drunken party for the incoming set. They were doing shower power hour until 2:30 in the morning. :-) Although my roommate and I were both in the one - two drink crowd, we both did our fair share of herding wasted dormmates into bed. It was good times. Welcome to college, everyone! We're gonna like it here.

First classes

So, I've had my first classes. By and large, they were uneventful. Mostly we just went over the syllabus and talked about procedure and things like that. Tonight I'm going to a lecture class that's 1 unit, once a week, which talks about computer science and robotics. It's pass/fail only and it should have very little to no work involved. I'm hoping it's also interesting. :-) On a side note, and the reason this post is here and not on Cupcakenation, my math professor is a total hottie. Also, the things he went over in the list of subjects we'll be covering all sound vaguely familiar, and I can definitely do the things he said we MUST be able to do. Thank goodness for Mr. Yetman. I am much less scared of this class than I was. (plus, the deliciousness of the lecturer will keep me from drifting off in class.)

Excuse me while I have a panic attack.

I had this "packing" thing totally down, I swear. I was so ready. And then Mom "remembered" about a million things I promised to do for her over a period of about 2 months. And she wants me to do them all. Now. Tonight. In the 12 hours I have left. Needless to say, I am not pleased. I have better things to be doing. So remind me again, why am I doing this?

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone.

Today, I woke up just in time to screech out of the house to the Optometrist. Why, you ask? Well, I'm trying out soft contact lenses. To be precise, Biomedic Premiere lenses. So far, I can tell you that they are WAY comfortable. They are a little harder to put in, but I didn't have too much trouble because I've already had the harrowing contact insertion learning experience. (It took me like a month to learn to put in the hard ones without throwing a fit.) They do have an annoying tendancy to turn themselves inside out, but I think I can deal with that. Serioiusly, people, it's like not wearing contacts at all. And that's a beautiful thing.

For those (one, possibly two) of you who haven't noticed...

...I now have a website. The website now has a blog. No, I won't be deserting this one. The new blog is a more public forum (ahem...in other words, my parents read it), and as such, please try to refrain from mentioning on it:
  • This blog
  • Anything you wouldn't tell my parents to their faces
  • Anything you wouldn't tell someone under the age of, say, 13
  • Anything that the entire internet shouldn't know, posthaste
Thank You. This has been an announcement from blog management. Normal service to resume momentarily
